Nebraska State Festival

Students who qualify at the District Festival may advance to the State Festival. Qualification includes receiving a I or II performance rating and passing the theory test with a score of 60% or better. Please refer to the NMTA Student Festival and Competition Manual for complete requirements.

Details: District Performance Festivals

Non-competitive, pre-college festivals are held every spring at four district sites in piano, orchestral strings, voice, woodwinds, brass, percussion, organ, plectrum guitar, and classical guitar. These festivals are held in April or May at sites in the Lincoln, Omaha, Central, and Western Districts. Students entering as soloists are required to perform at least two memorized pieces, scales or other technical requirements, sight reading, and a written and aural test in theory and musicianship.

Detailed guidelines for all aspects of the Festival are found in the NMTA Student Festival and Competition Manual Revised 2005.

NMTA sponsors a non-competitive State Festival and the Nebraska High School and Collegiate Competitions in the fall of each year. In order to qualify for the NMTA pre-college performance festival, a student must meet the following requirements:
